This soylent recipe is genuinely delicious. It is based on QuidNYC's wonderful male and female superfood recipes, but is a bit higher in protein and adheres to the belief that we, as humans, do need some plant enzymes and probiotics. Hence, the addition of a banana that adds sweetness and plant nutrients, as well as the yogurt which helps with consistency, protein, and probiotics. Obviously, you can make this recipe without those items or substitute other fruit. In addition, you may consider adding in some green, leafy vegetables or some chile for alternative nutrients and flavors.
This recipe makes three meals, so it is approximately $1.93 per meal. It is filling.
Note: Do not blend two vitamin pills into Soylent. Its easiest to take these separately.
To make Simshame Superfood Soylent, first add 750 ml water to a blender and then add the ingredients in any order.
I have a vitamix and like to put it on a kitchen scale, add the water, and then zero-out the scale and add the ingredients directly to the vitamix. I then run it once on the "smoothie" cycle, add the banana and run it again on the smoothie cycle.
To get the best consistency, make your soylent the night before and leave it in the fridge. This will allow it to coagulate. However, it is good fresh out of the blender as well.
I tried hard to update all prices and nutritional facts as of 6/14/14. Nutrition data was largely derived from http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/list-all/ and http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/herb_All.html.
PS: I know sulfur content is low, but I suspect there si sulfur in the whey and I dont want to over do it on the sulfur as Ive heard that can lead to gas.
I will continue to attempt to update the recipe and I appreciate all tips and suggestions.
