DESCRIPTION

This DIY Soylent recipe is a work in progress and subject to revision as the author/designer continues to experiment and research. The author/designer has begun versioning with this published version. Changes will properly be made to copies of this recipe and will be published with updated versions independently.

This recipe is designed to be very low carb, targetting a fat/protein ratio of approximately 67%:33%. Note that this is a relatively high protein value and may have health impacts in its own right. It is also designed to be relatively low calorie over all.

INDEMNIFICATION

Any person opting to use the presented recipe does so at their own risk; the author/designer explicitly denies all responsibility and liability for others using this recipe, and makes no assertion, guarantee, or assurance that the recipe will be healthful for any given person (the author/designer himself included!). As with all diets, seek medical advice before starting any diet and/or exercise plan. This recipe is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, medical or otherwise. The author/designer recommends, in his purely amateur opinion, regular blood tests and consults with one's primary care physician or equivalent. Blood work that may be worth discussing with one's primary care physician or equivalent are the CMP, CBC, and Lipid panel. The low caloric intake may lead to weight loss at a rate considered unhealthy. In such a case, the author/designer suggests discontinuing use of the recipe and finding other recipes or options, under consultation from one's medical professionals.

CHANGELOG

v1.1

  • Replacements
    • Remove: GNC Choline 250mg / Add: Spring Valley Choline 550mg
      • Reason: 250mg pills made it difficult to hit 550mg. Spring Valley hits 550mg exactly.
      • Nutrition changes of note
        • Choline: 500mg -> 550mg (low to in-range)
    • Remove: Equate Adults Complete Multi Vitamin Tablets, 500 Ct / Add: Spring Valley Vitamin D3 Softgels, Spring Valley Vitamin C 500mg 250ct, Spring Valley Iron Supplement Tablets, 27mg, 250 Ct
      • Reason: Multivitamin was causing Niacin and Folate to go outside the max values.
        • Nutrition changes of note
          • Niacin: 43.125mg -> 24.545mg (above max to in-range)
          • Folate: 1140mcg -> 785mcg (above max to in-range)
    • Remove: NOW! 100% MCT oil / Reduce: Great Value Canola Oil, 128 oz (90g -> 66g) / Add: Flaxseed Oil (60g)
      • Reason: LDL-C was slightly out of reference range to the high end on blood test (102mg/dL). Reducing saturated fats may help. Flaxseed oil can increase omega-3 to omega-6 ratio. Flaxseed oil is also very high in polyunsaturated fat.
      • Nutrition changes of note
        • Saturated Fat: 36.63g -> 10.5g
        • Monounsaturated Fat: 56.95g -> 53.88g
        • Polyunsaturated Fat: 25.33 -> 58.17g
  • Removals
    • Jarrow Formulas Gentle Fibers
      • Reason: Opted to remove fiber. Soluble was causing severe gastrointestinal distress, and pure insoluble appears difficult to acquire.
  • Reductions
    • Water intake from 6000ml to 4500ml
      • Reason: Excessive urination.
      • Watchout: Means not reaching fluoride RDA.
