This is a version of my weight loss formula, but without phytate. Phytate is a storage source of phosphorous in whole grains, and it interferes with absorption of iron and zinc. There has been some debate as to whether or not phytate is a problem in soylent; but what convinced me that it was a problem was this post: http://discourse.soylent.me/t/5-months-of-full-time-diy-soylent-blood-test-results/11567 After being on a home-made soylent for 5 months, his blood was deficient in iron and had low levels of zinc and copper. Phytate interferes with the absorption of these minerals. His recipe had plenty of iron and zinc, but it also had lots of whole grain wheat, and I believe the phytate in the whole grain wheat interfered with his absorption of iron (on the other hand, he says that he usually has a reduced iron content in his blood; so some portion of this may be due to his physiology).
This recipe does not have whole grain, or grain based protein powders. The phytic acid content should be extremely low.
This soylent recipe is part of my comprehensive weight loss plan. In the plan, you live off of this soylent recipe for a week. However, you have one 'cheat meal', which you can use at any time. This recipe is set up so that you can mix seven days at a time. It contains 20 nutritionally complete meals, for six days of dieting and two meals on the 'cheat meal' day. If you divide the daily amounts by 3, and then multiply by 20, you get nice round numbers.
